Safeguarding Training Requirements

The new Safeguarding Training Policy introduces minimum safeguarding training requirements for all Registrants and Pre-Registrants.

As a minimum:

• All Registrants and Pre-Registrants must complete Level 2 safeguarding training.

• Many practising case managers will require Level 3 safeguarding training, particularly those assessing, planning, implementing or managing personal or clinical care, managing cases where safeguarding concerns may arise, or providing professional supervision.

• Safeguarding Leads and those with equivalent responsibilities should complete Level 4 safeguarding training.

The policy also introduces refresher requirements:

• Level 2 – annual updates

• Level 3 – every three years

• Level 4 – every three years

CMSUK is committed to supporting members in meeting these new requirements and maintaining the highest standards of professional practice.

Professional Supervision

CMSUK continues to promote best practice in professional supervision and provides access to learning opportunities and resources to help members understand the role and value of effective supervision within case management practice.

Members are encouraged to review their current supervision arrangements now to ensure they will meet the IRCM requirements from July 2026.

Record Your CPD with CPDMe

As safeguarding training and professional development activities contribute towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD), members are encouraged to make full use of CPDMe, which is available to all CMSUK members at no additional cost.

CPDMe enables you to:

• Record and evidence CPD activities in one place

• Log training, webinars, supervision and reflective learning

• Maintain organised and secure professional records

• Generate professional portfolios and reports when required

Using CPDMe can help members demonstrate ongoing compliance with professional standards and maintain clear evidence of their learning and development activities.

We encourage all members who are Registered Case Managers or considering registration through the Pre-Registrant Pathway to familiarise themselves with these requirements and ensure appropriate arrangements are in place before 1st July 2026.
